My Thoughts on 23/06/2021

When God was guiding Samuel to appoint one of sons of Jesse as king, Samuel looked at the biggest and strongest and thought he was the one. Instead God chose David, a mere lad, who was looking after the sheep. God had said to Samuel “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.”

In today’s Gospel Jesus says to his disciples: “Beware of false prophets who come to you disguised as sheep but underneath are ravenous wolves. You will be able to tell them by their fruits.” It is easy to judge by appearances. We need to see in another’s life the fruits of the Spirit.

St Paul in his letter to the Galatians lists some of these fruits. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.”

I wonder to what extent our lives manifest these fruits?. We pray today that our life is producing goof fruit. Lord may the proof of our faith be seen in the evidence of how we live as kind, compassionate and prayerful followers of Christ.
