Gift Aid It!

What is Gift Aid?

If you are a UK taxpayer, the value of your gift can be increased by 25% under the Gift Aid Scheme. This means we will be able to claim an additional 25p from the Government for every £1 you donate at no extra cost to you.

Your donations are eligible for the scheme if you pay enough income tax and/or capital gains tax to cover the amount of tax, we – as a charity – will claim from your donation. Council Tax and VAT do not count as income tax.

There is no limit on how much you want to give as long as the tax you are paying covers the tax we claim from your donation.

Your donation does not have to be a fixed amount – whatever you can afford at the time. If you cannot give one week – that’s fine. You are not asked to make this up unless you choose to do so.

You are not committed to signing up for any length of time to give or any frequency of giving although our envelope scheme encourages you to Gift Aid your weekly Mass contributions.

Simply download and complete our Parish Pledge and Gift Aid Form using the button below and return the form to the Parish Office.

Gift Aid is completely confidential. You do not have to disclose any details of your income, savings, pensions or any other personal details. If your circumstances change, you can cancel at any time – just let us know.

For every £1 you give per week – £52 a year – we can claim the £13 tax you’ve already paid on this. Your gift is actually £65 to us!

Higher Rate Taxpayer

HMRC allows you an additional 25% on your basic tax rate band for every £1 you Gift Aid to us. You pay us £1 – we claim 25 p tax so get £1.25 – you get 25p tax relief at the basic rate so actually only pay 75p to us.

If you have any questions please go to our Gift Aid Coordinator who will be able to assist you.
