My Thoughts on 30/04/2021

The gospel reading for today is often chosen by relatives when planning a loved ones funeral. It is a very consoling message.

“Do not let your hearts be troubles or afraid. Trust in God still and trust in me.
There are many rooms in my Father’s house;
if there were not, I should have told you.
I am going now to prepare a place for you,
and after I have gone and prepared you a place,
I shall return to take you with me;
so that where I am
you may be too.”

Let us remember those who are terminally ill. May this promise of Jesus be a source of consolation and peace for them.

Thomas asks the question:

“Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus said:
‘I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.
No one can come to the Father except through me.’

Here is a clear call to trust. A call to have faith in Jesus. As the Way Jesus guides the way we live and the choices we make. As the Truth it is in Him the searching mind will find ultimate meaning and satisfaction. As the Life, Jesus is offering us Eternal life. He has conquered death.

Let us today pray for all those who find themselves lost, without direction and confused. May they turn to Jesus and discover in him the Way, the Truth and the Life.
