My Thoughts on 12/03/2021
Today, Jesus answers the scribe who asks him ‘Which is the first of all the commandments?’ by saying: “You must love God with all your heart and mind and soul, and love your neighbour as yourself.”
We are now half way through Lent. How are you doing? It is good to remind ourselves that anything we have decided to do or undertake this Lent is to help us to grow in love of God and others. Has Lent brought me closer to God? Have I been more prayerful? Have I been more reverential in language especially when using God’s name? Has Lent brought me closer to others? How has my attitude been towards others? Have I been more respectful, more aware of others? Have I been more generous towards others with my time?
Jesus mentioned the four dimensions of love, which are loving with all our heart, loving with all our soul, loving with all our understanding and loving with all our strength.
Lord give me the grace to love you with all my heart by growing a personal relationship with Jesus who has called me “friend.” May I love you with all my soul by having a thirst for you, a desire to seek you above all others. Give me a thirst for growing in understanding through reading and reflection. May I love you with all my strength by expressing love in acts of kindness, helpfulness and generosity.
