My Thoughts on 06/02/2021

Are you getting adequate rest these days? We all need a balanced life whatever our responsibilities. I love those words that Jesus says to his apostles after they returned from being sent out on mission. “Come away by yourselves to a lonely place, and rest awhile”.

All of us who are servicing God, as single people, parents, students, the elderly, need times of prayer and reflection. It is frequently mentioned in the gospels that Jesus took himself off to pray. We have remind ourselves that being productive and useful is important but reflection and prayer is also essential.

Prayer is never a waste of time. It is welcoming God into our hearts and acknowledging how important it is be dependant on him. Without the quiet moments in our daily life we will be running on empty and there is a danger of us grinding to a halt. We need to keep that balance between action and contemplation. We have to be both Martha and Mary.

Find what works best for you. Where can you find the quiet space where you can be alone with God? Today Jesus is inviting you to find rest for your souls.
