My Thoughts on 10/12/2020

One day I was following a public footpath across a ploughed field and ahead of me in the distance I saw a young man and his young son walking ahead. The boy was finding the going a little tricky, the father didn’t scoop up the child in his arms but he held his hand for reassurance and guidance. The father was allowing the boy to walk at his own pace but at the same time gave him confidence as he could feel the fathers hand in his. The opening words of first reading today reminded me of this.

“I, the Lord, your God,
I am holding you by the right hand;
I tell you, ‘Do not be afraid,
I will help you’.” (Isaiah 41:13)

We need to remember this promise was not just for the people of Israel but is for us too. We hear Jesus say many times “Do not be Afraid”.

When you are fearful God doesn’t take you away out the danger but holds your hand and is at your side.
