My Thoughts on 24/07/2020

There is a difference between hearing and listening. We might walk into a room and hear the voice of someone speaking on the radio. It is only when we listen do we hear what the person is saying.

We are surrounded by noise and a multitude of voices everyday but we need to create space and time in our day to truly listen. The Gospel Acclamation in today’s Mass quotas a verse from St James. “Accept and submit to the word that has been planted in you and can save your soul.”

Am I able to find some time today to be silent and listen? Once we have this silence then we read a passage from Scripture. We could take the first reading, the psalm, or the Gospel for today. This is one way of accepting and submitting to the word that has been planted in you.
