My Thoughts on 08/07/2020

Do you believe in Jesus? I am sure your answer will be “yes of course.”

But are you a disciple of Jesus? Are you following him? Are you accepting his discipline, his rule, the way of life that he has asked you to live. What is that way of life? Last night in our RCIA group we looked at Pope Francis Apostolic exaltation “Gaudate et Exsultate” (Rejoice and be Glad) written in 2018. He said that the purpose of writing this document was to look at how we can we live a life of holiness in a practical way in our own time, with all its risks, challenges and opportunities. “For the Lord has chosen each one of us “to be holy and blameless before him in love,”

What was challenging for the group last night was that Jesus explained with great simplicity what it means to be holy when he gave us the Beatitudes. Pope Francis said that they are like a Christian ‘s identity card. “In the beatitudes, we find a portrait of the Master, which we are called to reflect in our daily lives.

Over the next few days I hope to revisit these beatitudes and let them challenge me and hopefully give you food for thought and prayer.
