My Thoughts on 23/06/2020
Here is a key saying of Jesus from today’s gospel. “So always treat others as you would like them to treat you, that is the Law and the prophets.
This is often known as the Golden Rule. It is a maxim that is found in many religions and cultures. It can be considered an ethic of reciprocity in some religions, although different religions treat it differently. It is often presented in a negative way. Do not do to others what you would not wish to be dome to you. Jesus phrases it in a positive way. He is saying that his plan is that Charity is to be pro-active. With Jesus love takes the initiative. We are called, as followers of Christ, to live a life of love which is a decision to love regardless of whether a person deserves it or not.
Let us pray today that we may be always guided by the Golden Rule of treating others as we would wish them to treat us. We also pray for anyone whom we have harmed because we did not treat them with Christian love.
