My Thoughts on 18/05/2020

Today is the 100th anniversary of Saint John Paul II birth. Pope Francis celebrated Mass at his Altar tomb early this morning. Pope John Paul was Pope from 1978 till his death in 2005. In his homily, Pope Francis highlighted three things about Pope John II. His commitment to a life of prayer, his closeness to the people and his love of justice and mercy, reminding us that God’s justice had the face of mercy.

Here are some of his wise quotes:

“Prayer can truly change your life. For it turns your attention away from yourself and directs your mind and your heart toward the Lord. If we look only at ourselves, with our own limitations and sins, we quickly give way to sadness and discouragement. But if we keep our eyes fixed on the Lord, then our hearts are filled with hope, our minds are washed in the light of truth, and we come to know the fullness of the Gospel with all its promise and life.”

“I plead with you – never, ever give up on hope, never doubt, never tire, and never become discouraged. Be not afraid.”

“Mary is the sure path to our meeting with Christ. Devotion to the Mother of the Lord, when it is genuine, is always an impetus to a life guided by the spirit and values of the Gospel.”

Saint John Paul II pray for us especially at this time of pandemic, help us to experience the courage and healing of Christ in our lives.
