My Thoughts on 13/05/2020

Today is the feast of Our Lady of Fatima. Between May 13 and October 13, 1917, three Portuguese children- Francisco and Jacinta Marto and their cousin Lucia dos Santos – received apparitions of Our Lady at Cova da Iria near Fatima, a city 110 miles north of Lisbon. Mary asked the children to pray the rosary for world peace, for the end of World War I, for sinners, and for the conversion of Russia.

The church has recognised these apparitions. Why is it that Mary seems to make so many appearances? She is not giving new revelations but is always calling us back to prayer and to focus on her son, Jesus. One of the things that Mary emphasised at Fatima was the recitation of the Rosary. Some people do not find the Rosary an easy prayer to say. Saint Pope John II in his homily at Fatima on 13th May 1982 said:

“The Rosary is Mary’s prayer, in which…she herself prays with us. Take care of your inheritance of faith..do you want me to teach you the secret of keeping it? It is simple. Pray pray very much, pray, recite the Rosary every day.”

A short talk on YouTube might encourage you to start saying the Rosary.
