The future of our Parish

CaptureWe are looking to hear from you of what our Parish should be working to achieve over the next 10 years. What will we celebrate on our 150th anniversary in 2025?

We know that the Church is the living body of Christ in which all share in various and diverse ways the responsibility for the mission given to the Church by the Lord to:

  • Worship God in joyous celebration of the Mass and sacraments
  • Proclaim the Word of God to all people
  • Witness the love and redemptive healing of Christ
  • Serve those in need in both Church and society

We also know that the Essential Elements of Parish Life are:

  • Our celebration of the liturgy & the Eucharist
  • Word
  • Service
  • Community
  • Leadership
  • Stewardship
  • Sunday Eucharist

The essential elements of parish life relate to the basic mission of the parish and will become the foundation of the parish’s dialogue and reflection when creating a pastoral plan for the future.

But what does this mean in spiritual, pastoral and practical terms for our parish here at St Thomas of Canterbury and us as members of that community?

We want to hear your views please. So what are we going to do? We will:

  • issue a parish survey
  • hold small discernment groups
  • hold an open forum for further consultation & debate

This will lead to:
